Creating extrusion roofs
- [Instructor] In this video, I want to show you an alternative to the footprint roof called roof by extrusion. So, footprint roofs are great for traditional form roofs, hips, gables, shed roofs, and a variety of other shapes, but sometimes, the shape you want to create doesn't lend itself well to the sketch tools in a footprint roof, so you can try an extruded roof in those cases. So, what I'm going to do here is make a really simple canopy over a patio in this really simple building here to demonstrate the extruded roof. So, canopy's actually on the far side over here, so I'll use this little turntable on the view cube and kind of spin the model around so that we can see where I want to work. So I've got this little patio here and I want to create a small extruded roof that pulls out away from the wall. Now, you could do it in 3-D, but it's actually going to be easier in an elevation.
