- [Instructor] In this video I'm going to link in a CAD file that represents the site plan information for a project. Now there isn't a revit civil package, but revit does support the import of civil files created in autocad or even to some extent civil 3d files. So the trick is you just need to get those files and know how to process them when you bring them into revit. And then what we can do is actually use that CAD information to help us build a really simple topographic surface to use as the basis for our building site. So I'm actually in a site plan view for this example, because I think it has better display properties to support what we're about to do. And then I'm going to go to the Insert tab here and choose the link CAD button. Now, it's always better to use a link for this scenario, so that if the owner of the file makes updates, you can easily import those updates again by simply refreshing the link.
