Cutting holes using void geometry
- [Instructor] In this video we're going to look at creating a void form. So when you're building geometry for your family content, you can use a combination of solids and voids. So solids create physical 3D objects and voids cut away from those solids to make more complex forms. So we're going to use a void here to represent the pockets in the pool table. So I'm going to work in the ref level floor plan and the first thing I want to do is actually select the existing geometry and use the temporary height/isolate and hide it to get it out of the way. It's just going to make it a lot easier for me to ensure that I'm snapping to the reference planes instead of the existing geometries, so it's something I do quite frequently while working in the family editor. Next I'll go to the create tab and on the void forms dropdown, I'll choose void extrusion. Now I'm going to use a simple circle here to represent the pocket shape but in reality it's not quite circular shaped, but I think a circle…
