- [Instructor] In this chapter, we're going to explore design options and we'll begin here in this video with an overview of the tool set. So if you imagine that you're working on a project and you want to consider more than one scheme for some portion of your design, then you're going to deviate from your main model with potentially multiple options. So the best way to think about design options is to imagine them like a fork in the road. So we're moving along in our design and then we're going to consider two or more possibilities. Now let's talk about the intent of the design options tool set. The first thing is that it was generally intended as an early design exploration tool. Now that's not to say that it's exclusive to that and that you can't maintain your design options well into the later phases of the project, and I've certainly seen that done, it's just that it was intended as an early design exploration…
