Adding receptacles
- [Instructor] Okay, now that the underlays are all set and we have the views looking the way we want, we can actually start modeling some stuff. In this video, I'd like to add some receptacles to a room. To get started let's jump into Revit. Just around the same page in the project browser under views let's make sure we're in power, floor plan, level one. I want to zoom in on this area here 'cause this is where I want to put my receptacles. Notice that there's an annoying hatch pattern being shown. The objective here is I want to turn off the hatch pattern but I don't want to turn off the floor in case I want to put some floor-mounted receptacles in. I don't want to in this case but I want to leave myself open for that option. To do this, let's go to visibility graphics. You can either click the edit button right here or you can type V G on your keyboard. Under model categories, let's scroll down till we find floors and select it. Notice that we can come over here and we can override the lines, the patterns or even the transparency. In this case, I'd like to override the patterns. For foreground, uncheck visible. For background, uncheck visible just to make sure. Click OK. Click Apply. Click OK. There we go. That's a lot better. To place a receptacle, we'll go up to the systems tab. On the electrical panel, click the device pull down and let's select electrical fixture. Now remember we have a type selector drop-down and we also have placement. We do want to place it on a vertical face. And the type of receptacle, let's click the pull down here. We have standard or a GFCI. I'll select standard. If you hover over any one of these walls, because we have it placed on vertical face, it's going to place it on one of these walls, which is perfect. I like to place one here. I like the place one here. Maybe place one here. I like to have a lot of receptacles. I'll suppose we'll place one in the adjacent room here. Here. Maybe I'll put one right here. Hit Escape a couple of times. Now notice where the receptacles placed, we can select one and we can check out the properties of it. We say that's set for level one. The elevation is 1'6" or 457. But notice that we can create a power system. We'll do that later. If we click edit type, we'll see that we get all these types of properties. Close out of here. Hit Escape a couple of times. So that's all I want to do for this video. Go ahead and save your model. And you're all set to start wiring these things up.
