Adding foundation walls

- [Instructor] It's time to start thinking about foundations. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about foundations are foundation walls. What this video has us doing is setting up a foundation wall thickness, then adding it to the base of our model underneath the exterior architectural walls. In Revit, I'm going to go to Open, I'm going to browse to my Chapter Three, I'm going to grab Structural 07, then I'll click Open. Now in Level One, what we're going to do is we're going to place a foundation underneath here. I want to, temporarily turn off my grids in this level. So if I select, any grid, I can come down here to my little sunglasses, Temporary Hide/Isolate, I'm going to click that and I want to hide Category. Notice now that we're in Temporary Hide/Isolate mode and those are hidden. It just makes it easier to place our foundation walls. Let's go to Structure, let's go to Wall, I'll hit my drop-down here and I'm going to go foundation, 300 millimeter concrete. Let's click Edit Type, I want to duplicate this, so click Duplicate, then I'm going to call this, Foundation 457 millimeter concrete. And let's just get rid of the two, okay. For structure click Edit, for thickness I'm going to click into here and type 4-5-7, hit Enter. Let's click okay, let's click okay. Now the depth is grade out but instead of unconnected, hit the drop-down here and let's go to top of footing. The location line wants to be wall center line, on the draw panel click on Pick Lines, scroll into this architectural wall, now I'm going to select the Centerline of it, it's going to place our foundation below it. Do the same here. I want to do the same here. Here. Select our radial wall on the center line, here. Here, here and one more here. We can zoom out or if you double click your Wheel button that will zoom all or you type ZA to zoom all, as well. Let's go to a 3-D view and there we have it. One more thing, let's go back down to Level One Structural Plan and click your little sunglasses and let's reset Temporary Hide/Isolate, brings our grids back in. Hit Save and there you go, putting in foundation walls is a snap.
