- [Instructor] With a traditional structural plan, you're not going to get very far without a grid system. This video's objective is to use our architectural underlay to set up that grid system. In Revit, let's go open. Going to browse to Chapter-02, grab Structure_06, and we're off. We're in level one coordination. We could put it here, but I just want to go up to level one. Let's zoom in on this corner here. On the structure tab, click the grid button right here. On the draw panel, click Pick Lines right here. Zoom in to this wall. And I want to make sure we click the dead center of this wall. I'm going to zoom out a little bit. Notice we have all the same attributes that we had when we had a level selected. That's good. We also have this little grip. Modify the grid by dragging, it's a model N. Yeah, pick that, move your cursor up, and drag it up out of the view. There we go. Now let's go down to the bottom and zoom in on it. Let's grab this bubble, drag it down to about there. And let's show the bubble. Click this button right here, Show Bubble. Okay, now we are going to make multiple copies down our building footprint. Let's select grid line one. Let's click Copy. Notice the procedure there? I select the grid. Then I execute the command. This works for everything in Revit. Copy, Constrain and Multiple both should be checked on. Now I'm going to pick a base point right about here. I'm going to come down to this wall here and place one right on the center of that wall. Place one on the center of this wall, center of this wall. Now we're cooking. Center of this wall here. And make sure we hit the center of our exterior wall. I'm going to zoom right in on it, pick that. Then hit Escape a couple times. I like to adjust my elevation so they're not overlapping my bubbles. Hit Escape a few times. Okay, now we need to draw one straight up from this intersection up to align with six. So right-click on column six and Create Similar. Let's zoom in to this area here. And notice that if I hover over this line right here, we're going to pick that endpoint. I'm going to zoom out, and I'm going to notice that when I get into alignment with the rest of the bubbles, it's going to give us that little tip, we're going to pick it. Now what we need to do is grab this bubble and drag it down. Be careful you don't create another grid inadvertently. So I'm going to get this bubble, pick it, drag it down. And I'm going to line it now with the rest of them and turn it on. Hit Escape a couple times. Okay, let's start horizontal grids. Zoom into here. Right-click on grid one and Create Similar. On the drop panel, let's Pick Lines. Zoom into here. Let's hover over this center line and pick it. Notice there's nothing turned on, but that's okay. Grab the grip, pick it, drag it out to about here. Now turn on the bubble. I think I'll drag it out a teeny bit more. I don't want that to be number eight. So click on number eight and make sure that's a capital A. Let's deal with the other end. This bubble's turned on, so I'm just going to grab it. Now I'm going to pull it out so it's just clearing our wall right here. Perfect. Hit Escape a couple times. Now select grid line A. We're going to do the same thing. We're going to copy it to here, to here, to here, to here, then to here. Okay, let's do it. Make sure you have it selected. Now click Copy. Constraint and Multiple are still checked on. Select it anywhere along it, just as long as you're outside of that wall. I'm going to copy it down to the center line of this wall to the center line of our corridor. To this one. To, should be good. Then this one. Then we're going to finalize it right here. A, B, C, D, E, F, perfect. Okay, three more to go. We got to deal with the radial entry area here. Right-click on any one of these grids and Create Similar. On the draw panel, click the Pick Lines button. Now for the offset, let's go six inches. Zoom into the inside face of the radio wall, and I want to offset this line inward six inches. So notice when you hover over it, it's going to jump down. So once it jumps down and in, pick it. You grab this grip and drag it in a little bit, and we can turn on that end. The bottom, do the same thing. Grab that, and let's drag it up. There we go. Hit Escape a couple times. Getting there, right. Right-click on column line G and Create Similar. Now I want it to be to the center but there's a lot of noise down here and it's hard to tell if we're hitting the right spot. So if you type SC for Snap Center, hover over column line G, notice that you're getting that center tip to show up. Once you see that, pick it. Now notice that we can freely kind of just draw this in, but notice it will snap to 45 degrees. So let's bring our column line H up about here and pick it, hit Escape a couple times. Select column line H, and let's call it capital B.1 and hit Enter. With it still selected, type MM for mirror pic axes. Now click this horizontal reference plane right here. Look at that. Select this and call it D.9 and hit Enter. Hit Escape a few times. Zoom out. There we go. Got our grid system in.
