Parallel to face

- It's time to add some reinforcing. In a foundation wall situation there are a few different ways we can add reinforcing. The way we're going to do it here is to use perpendicular reinforcing. What this video will illustrate is how to add reinforcing like I said basically going up and down. We will also have the choice of the rebar gauge as well as the spacing. Let's go into Revit, under models, I'm going to go Open. I'm going to browse through my Chapter 6 and select a structural 29. Click Open. Let's go down to level 1. I'm going to select this section and I'm going to drag it back a little bit. Hit Esc a couple times. Let's double-click on it and open it up. On my view tab, I'll click Callout I want to make an enlarged view of this section. So I'm going to click Callout. I'm going to pick a window just like this. Then I'll hit Esc a few times. Let's double click on our Callout. Let's change the scale 1:20. Now with my wall here, let's go to the Structure tab and let's click the Rebar button right here. "Rebar Shape definitions include hooks and will ignore end treatments," that's fine, hit okay. Now I'm not sure why Revit does this however, we have some drop-down menus. For the placement, I want to make sure our Parallel to Work Plane. You'd have a rebar shape here now if we hover over our wall, you'll see that we have some cover settings and we'll look at those in a moment but I'm going to place the bar here and I'm going to place a bar here then I'm going to hit Esc a couple of times Select this bar, hold down the Ctrl key and select this bar. In our properties, I want to scroll down till I see rebar set. For my layout rule instead of single, I'll go maximum spacing. Now I'm going to set the spacing for 305. Hit Enter. If you hit Esc a couple times It will select both of these again. Notice that we have a shape M_00. If we look down at our dimensions, it was quite a lot of information, also the size of the bar itself we have 10mm, but we can add other sizes if we need to. Again if I scroll down to view visibility and if I click edit I can turn on all these other views. So right now it's only turned on in Section 1 and Callout 1. So I'm going to uncheck it in section. So now I'll keep it turned off in these other views and then click OK. Hit Esc a couple times and that's it, that's how you add rebar.
