Shaft openings

- [Instructor] Just because our walls run all the way through our building, that doesn't mean Revit doesn't know how to stop items, such as floors, roofs, and ceilings, to stop at the shaft walls. That's where shaft openings come in handy. This video will have us creating what is called a shaft opening. Basically, we're going to model a void that surrounds our shaft walls. That way, anything other than framing that passes through will be cut out. In Revit, I'm going to open Structural 13. For structural plans, I'm going to go down to level one. We want to make sure that all of our floors are going to stop at the outside face of this. On the Structure tab, we're going to have openings over here. Click Shaft Opening. Our shaft opening kind of behaves like a column 'cause we have a base constraint and a top constraint. Our base constraint can be level one. Base offset, let's type in a zero.
