Understanding cloud rendering
- In this chapter, we're going to take a look at the Autodesk Cloud Render Service. If you're on subscription with your Revit software, then you already have access to cloud rendering. So just what exactly is cloud rendering? Well, cloud rendering takes advantage of a collection of servers that auditors maintains in the cloud and allows you to upload your render jobs to those servers. Now, the advantage of this is quite simple. As we've discussed a number of times throughout this course, rendering can often take a great deal of time to complete, particularly on the higher quality renderings. During this time, your computer is tied up with that task and you won't be able to use Revit to perform other tasks. If you can instead take that render job and upload it to the cloud, that will free up your computer and Revit for you to perform other tasks simultaneously while your rendering is being created in the background.
