- [Instructor] Most commercial buildings have a column grid. So in this video, let's look at the process of laying out a column grid in a simple commercial structure. Now, I've got some exterior walls here just to help us with the layout, so we're going to sketch our grids relative to these exterior walls. Now, grids are a datum element in Revit. Think of them as a plane cutting vertically through your building. So what we're doing here is working in plan and establishing the locations of those planes, but they cut all the way through the building vertically. Now the tool for grids is over here on the architecture tab. And if you hover over the tool and wait a moment for the tool-tip, what you're going to see is, next to the name is two letters in parentheses, gr in this case.
