Architectural door schedules - Revit Tutorial

- [Instructor] Let's start with an easy one, shall we? Door schedules. In this video, I'd like to go into an Architectural model and create a door schedule. Of course if you have a model of your own to start with, go ahead and open that. I'm going to jump into Revit. Under Projects, go Open. I'm going to browse around keeping my Exercise Files. I'm going to grab my Architectural model. I'm going to click Open. Now I'd like to go to the View tab. The View tab is where our schedules are. And the Create panel, notice that we have Schedules right here. I'll click my dropdown then we're going to come down to Schedule Quantities. In the New Schedule dialog, you can filter your list if you don't want to see all of these stuff. If you're an architect, you might not want to see any of these. I'm going to keep 'em all turned on 'cause that's just what I'm used to. I want to scroll down to Doors. I'm going to select it. We'll keep the name Door Schedule. We'll keep the Phase New Construction but notice that you can have it in a different phase. And we'll Schedule building components. Let's click OK. Now the first dialog you'll see are the Fields dialog. What fields do we want that are in our door family to come over into our schedule? The first one I want to use is Mark. So I'm going to scroll down to Mark, select it, click my Add parameters button. I'm going to find Height. Going to add that. I'm going to come down to Width. I'll add that. I like to know what Level they're in, so I'm going to scroll to Level. Add Level. I have to find Finish. We'll add that. Frame Material. Going to add that. Frame type, we'll add that. And I always like to throw some comments in there. I'm going to add that. Usually what I like to do is there's a lot of choices we have but if I just click OK, I just like to see how it's sorting this stuff out. Very cool. Now I want to make some edits to how this is laid out. So in my Properties, I'm going to scroll down and notice that I have all of the tabs that I was just looking at right here. And also, I can do a lot of items here too. So if I go to Other and I go back to Fields and click Edit, it brings me back to my Fields tab. If I go to Sorting and Grouping, we can click the dropdown. We can sort by Mark. Then I want to sort by Level. Now I'd like to hit OK. Now under Mark, I'm going to click into here, all caps, I'm going to call it NUMBER. For Height, all caps. I'm going to go through and do the rest of 'em. I'll go with Finish. Frame Material. Frame Type. And of course, Comments. For Door Schedule, I'm just going to type over the top of this, all caps. I've got it. Now the beauty thing about this is I can add any finish I want here. So I can hit the dropdown. With this I can type in a WD maybe. So we can fill our schedule out right here if we want to. Another cool thing is if I just grab any door and I click Highlight in Model, and I click OK just to continue, I can find the door, which is pretty cool. Now one last thing I'd like to do is drag this onto a sheet. So I'll go down to my Sheets. I'm going to right-click and create New Sheet. I'll use the default titleblock. Click OK. Now if we scroll up to Schedules Quantities, notice we have a DOOR SCHEDULE. I can drag this in. I can put it anywhere I want. Maybe I'll put it in the middle here and then hit Escape. We've got our door schedule. I can select it. I can of course stretch out my rows. I can stretch out my columns, so like this COMMENTS column, FRAME TYPE, FRAME MATERIALS, so it wraps on to one line. So, easy as cake. We now have a door schedule that we can manipulate.
