- [Instructor] The BIM Execution Plan is an industry standard document created to help support the use of BIM during design and construction. It is a very useful tool and widely used tool for the pre-construction phase. Industry groups have not yet adapted a specific BIM Execution Plan for architects to date. At this point, the development of the document has largely been left to individual architectural firms, with varying levels of success. The standard BIM Execution Plan focuses mainly on the contractor's needs and only generally references the architectural phases. It is only a matter of time that the architects BIM Execution Plan is fully standardized by industry-accepted groups, such as the National Institute of Building Sciences. In order to promote consistency in the industry, the following discussion will adopt the terminology established by the National BIM Guide for Owners, adopted in January of 2017.
