- [Instructor] So when we talk about BIM coordination, what does that mean for the architect? The contractor does so much of the work during preconstruction. What does the architect need to do during design? There are two types of coordination that needs to be performed, 3D coordination and drawing coordination, both of which we have reviewed the tools to do, but we have not yet discussed actually doing a quality control review of those coordination requirements. During design, 3D coordination could be managed multiple ways. The architect could use Navisworks during design to highlight clashes and report them to the team. They could also set up coordination views within Revit using filters to identify the different models and do a visual review. Do keep in mind that these are design intent models, and the work you're doing now should be a review for major discrepancies to prepare for preconstruction.
