Changing material selections globally

- [Instructor] In this video I want to show you a really simple and effective use of global parameters. We're going to use them to control a palette of materials across our entire project. So I've got this layout of cabinetry here, and each one of these is a separate family. We've got this upper cabinet here. We've got this base cabinet with drawers, base cabinet here with doors. So each one of those is different. And if you select any one of those families, they all have materials assigned to the various parts and pieces. And you can find those material settings under Edit Type. You'll see that the Cabinet Material has got a material parameter, and the Door and Drawer Material has a material parameter. And if I select a different base cabinet, it's got the same material parameters, but the trouble is, if I change this material, let's just type in "wood" here. So let's assign that to Cherry and click OK and then OK…
