Create a furniture family

- [Instructor] To start a Revit family, you should always begin with a new template. Now, the kind of template that we want should always match up with the category of object that you're getting ready to draw. I want to draw a furniture family, which means I'll come over here to where we have New underneath Families and then select on New. Then here on the Select Template File dialog box, you can scroll down until you find proper family. In this case it's a furniture family. Select on Furniture, then click on Open. If for some reason when you open up the Select Template File dialog box you don't see your furniture families, what you can do is come here to your Exercise Files, go to your chapter seven, and then I've included this furniture family inside of chapter seven. And click on Open. Each Revit family is set up just a little bit differently. They're set up so that they work well for the kind of object that you're getting ready to create.
