Creating extrusion roofs

- [Narrator] In this video, I want to talk about roof by extrusion. Roof by extrusion is an alternative to roof by footprint, and it allows you to sketch more freeform shapes, curved shapes, and so on, that would not be easy to achieve with a footprint roof. So here in this simple model that I have, I'm going to use the view cube in the top corner here of the view cube to spin the model around. And on this facade of the building, where I have this small little patio, maybe I want to create a small roof canopy up over that entry doorway right there. Now, to achieve that, it will be a little bit easier if I work directly in an elevation view. So that happens to be the west elevation of this building. So I'll double click west here, and then zoom in slightly to focus right in on this wall of the building. Now, the tool that we want to use is on the dropdown for the roof button, and we want to use roof by extrusion. Now, when I choose that command, it will display the work plane dialog…
