Creating topography from a DWG link
- [Instructor] Revit is focused on architecture and building trades but it does have some really simple site tools. So when you get a file from a civil engineer that you want to incorporate into your Revit project, it's often going to come in as a DWG file. And that DWG file will contain the site plan information. And there's a real easy process that we can use to take that site plan information from the DWG and turn it into something that Revit calls a topography surface and that topography surface then can become the basis for the site plan for your project. So let's walk through that workflow. So it's going to start by linking in a CAD file from your civil engineer. So we'll go to the insert tab, I'll click the link CAD button. And then in this dialogue, I'll choose the AutoCAD site plan file. Now don't double click the file because we need to change a couple of the settings. So we're going to accept the similar…
