Level of development

- [Instructor] Level of Development references how project specific an element is. And Level of Detail references how much stuff is in each BIMobject. When you are working with sketches, this differentiation is obvious by how exact the sketch is. But when you are working in the computer, this can be confused by the exacting nature of the computer. For example, an intern may download a dentist's chair from a website to use in their project. And this object could have everything in it, including the armrests and tubes to the handheld equipment. The intern does not know if these elements are required, they simply need to meet their goal. This would be an example of an element that has a high Level of Detail but, in essence, is a placeholder that isn't really thought through. One, the intern needs some mentoring. But two, this would be considered an LOD 200 element. The BIMobject was chosen by the intern for its approximate geometry, so they may complete the task assigned to them. In…
