- [Instructor] This week, I have some topography tips to share with you. And I'd like to start with some tips using CAD files. Now, you're probably familiar with the fact that you can use a CAD file to generate a toposurface. So what I have here is a really simple toposurface. And if you had a series of contour lines generated in a CAD file that were set at different Z heights, it could be used to create a surface like this. And so that's really the most common way that we see CAD files being used is the series of lines or polylines are actually set at different heights in the Z direction, and it might look something like this stack of circles right here, where those elements are used to generate the topography. Now if I look at this from 3D, it's probably a little bit easier to understand what I've got there.
