- [Instructor] This week I've got a really simple yet effective technique for you. I want to talk about the coarse scale cut material that gets applied in 3D views. So when you create a 3D view and you apply a section box to it, you're slicing through some portion of the model. You have the option to use a single material for any element that's being sliced through that will override all other settings, regardless of what material is assigned to those objects and what settings are applied to them, hatch patterns and so forth. It'll use this one continuous material for anything that happens to be cut through. So that can give you a really nice graphical presentation when creating cutaway 3D views. So first of all, what do I mean by a cutaway 3D view? I've got an example right here. On the 3D views branch there's this 3D stair cutaway, and if I just double-click to open that up you can see that this is just slicing the model away, and we're just looking at the stair portion, in this…
