- [Instructor] In this video I want to talk briefly about the Revit file format and backward compatibility. If you go to the Autodesk Knowledge Network and you search for backward compatibility, you'll find that each release of Revit is its own unique file format and that Revit files are not backward compatible. So, if I just scroll down here a little bit, you'll see here that you cannot save the model from the current version of Revit to a prior version of Revit. So this is really important when you're working together with teams of folks either in your firm or in other firms, you'd have to make sure that everybody is on the same version of Revit. So, regardless of what that version is, everybody on the project team needs to be on that same version. So, let me show you what it would look like if you began opening a file from a previous release. What'll happen is it will display some sort of a message on screen telling you you're upgrading the model and it'll give you a little message…
