Understanding list lacing

- [Instructor] In the last video, we used Align by Start-Point End-Point node to connect a list of 25 points locating the seats in the classroom to the list of eight points locating the room's power outlets. Now we have a few lines drawn between seats and outlets, but this isn't quite what we're looking for. Remember that farther down this workflow, we plan to measure the distance from each seat to every outlet in the room, and then find the distance of the nearest outlet, which would be the smallest number in that list. So, in order for that process to work, we need to have Dynamo create a list between each seat to all of the outlets in the room, which clearly isn't happening right now. The answer to this problem is going to come from a concept called list lacing, which is how Dynamo handles situations when we provide input lists of different lengths.
