- [Instructor] So in this video we're going to get started creating our pool table family. And we're going to begin with Reference Planes Parameters and Constraints. So reference planes are data elements that provide the overall form and structure for our family and they serve a similar role to what levels and grids did in the project environment. Now, I'm going to start here in the ref level floor plan and on the datum panel here, I want to click the reference plane button or the keyboard shortcut RP. Very important that you pick reference plane not reference line, they're not at all the same thing. So with that first reference plane, let's click a point here above the existing one and run parallel to it like so and then I will click on the dimension that appears, set it to two feet in Imperial or 600 millimeters if you're working in metric.
