Why Revit renames that family to avoid inconsistencies

- [Instructor] Have you ever been in a situation where you're working on a project and you're browsing through the list of available families either on the type selector, like I'm showing here, or perhaps on the project browser in the Families branch, and you notice that you've got multiple versions of the same family and they have these little numbers at the end of the name? So in the example I'm showing here, we've got two versions of the double exterior door. And it can be really frustrating when this occurs, because you're wondering why this would happen, why I would end up with so many copies of essentially the same family, but just with these slightly different names to them.
