Analyzing curves
- Many times, when we're working in Rhino 5 for Mac, we'll need to measure certain properties of a curve object like the length, the curvature or the diameter. Luckily, Rhino's got some great tools for pulling out this information, and we can find those under the Analyze menu. So you can see here I've got a few that are specific to curves, and then some more general analysis commands that work for curves or surfaces. Here we just have a few different sets of curves to analyze. Let's start off with a really simple analysis tool. Just looking at the length of a curve. And we'll start with the very most basic, just these single straight lines here. Go to Analyze, Length, and just select the curve I'd like to measure. Click "Done". And I can see down here in my history bar I get "Length = 15.447 centimeters". And we could try that again with this curve, I'll just hit "spacebar" to bring up the length and I can see I get "Length = 31.000 centimeters". So in a lot of cases like these…
