Building the 3D model: An overview
- [Instructor] In CAD, if you're working with a design in 2D, chances are, you're going to want to build it into a 3D model. In this chapter, we will use the screwdriver design and build it out into a 3D design that we can eventually print ourselves. We'll discuss the new elements before moving into building the model. We will then begin building the curves for both the handle and the tip in Rhino. So, let's get started by looking at the concept model here. We have Illustrator open. You could see that we had made some bullet points of what we want to add for our elements. Starting with the tip, we want the blade area to have a shiny finish. Then the rest of the tip will have a matte finish. This is only going to be relevant when we get into the rendering process. If you look over at the handle section, we have a new element that we want to add, it's called a thumb grip.
