Building the roof and structure

- In this video, we'll try a few new ways to make curves and build some roofing. We also need to talk briefly about structure. My strategy is that we definitely want to consider structural requirement but not too much if it slows us down. I'll show you what I mean. Some goals I think are important is you definitely be familiar with the basic structural shapes, such the wide flange, and the various assortment of tubes, channels, and angles. It's also very helpful to know exactly how far these various types of structural materials can span. For example, here is a truss, and it can span huge distances. Now, in this project, the vast majority of the structure is hidden internally. But many times you'd want to expose the structure, like in this example, from underneath a bridge. These two examples really highlight the kind of structure we're talking about on this project, where there is residential on the left or commercial on the right.
