Comparing Bézier curves, B-splines, and NURBS objects

In this video, we'll take a look at the foundation of organic modeling, the B Spline. We'll compare it to it's more well known cousin, the Bezier Curve, for which it is often mistaken. The Bezier is the curve widely used in 2D applications like Illustrator and Photoshop. Let's take a closer look, note the handles on the Bezier, they make it easy to draw and easy to edit, but as great as they work for 2D, they really stink in 3D. As a point of reference, let's just note that there are points on the curve and two handlebars off the curve. I'll discuss why this does not work for 3D in just a moment. Now, let's explore the B-Spline. I'm going to highlight this and turn the control points on with the points on command, or you can use F10. And so these single points off the curve are what would make the editing so much efficient and easier to do. I've also drawn several other curves in the scene. And I did these using this command up here, the Control Point Curve. So I'm going to go ahead…
