Generating a vignette "highlight" effect

This next video will show how to create a vignette effect two different ways. First we'll use the VRay built-in vignette feature and then we'll explore a manual method in Photoshop which gives us a little more control. So you might be asking what's a vignette effect? Good question. Let's take a look at a couple examples. This is a rendering from a scene we're about to look at. With no vignetting, so you notice it's nicely lit, but fairly even. I'm going to switch over to the one with vignette. And you'll notice instantly, the center appears to be brighter, but it's mostly the edges are darker. So let's jump back and forth one more time, so this is before no vignette. After with it. So, this effect was originally used to simulate a lens distortion but now it's mostly used for artistic effect. Let's jump back to Rhino and explore how to do this in VRay.
