Rhino objects

- The objects represented in any rhino file are defined using one of two types of geometry, polygon meshes, and NURBS which stands for non-uniform rational B-splines. To help us take a look at some of the different objects you'll see in rhino, I've got the exercise file, rhino-objects.3dm open. So let's start with polygon meshes, which you can see here in green. Now, meshes are made up of groups of vertices connected by straight edges and flat faces. And they're great for things like 3D scanning, 3D printing, rendering animation, and physics simulations. One disadvantage to working with meshes though is that they're faceted. So we can only approximate smooth surfaces. And we can see that here, if I zoom in a little bit on this arched surface. Even though the overall shape is arched, I can see the facets from the straight edges of the polygon mesh. So let's zoom back out and we'll shift over. And let's take a look at…
