Scaling objects with Scale commands and Gumball
- The need to change the size of an object comes up just about every time we use Rhino 5 for Mac, and while it may sound basic, we've actually got lots of different options for scaling, all these different scale commands here in addition to the Gumball. So let's take a look at some different ways to scale objects in Rhino. Here we've got a really cool example model to practice scaling with, and this is from a 3D scan I took of a real deer skull, so, unlike most of the other objects we've seen so far, this one's a polygon mesh, but the scale commands all work the same regardless of what type of geometry we're working with. So let's just start with a basic three dimensional scale using the Scale 3-D command, and we can find this under the Transform, Scale menu. Scale 3-D changes the size of an object in all three dimensions, and it does it uniformly, so that means the proportions of the objects stay the same, and it doesn't get squashed.
