Shelling out the shank
- [Voiceover] We're gonna take a look now at shelling out our shank to our model. The purpose of shelling out the shank in our model is when you are kessing out this design in precious metal like platinum or gold, it does make sense to take out as much metal as possible so you can reduce the price or the weight. So to begin, I'm gonna go ahead and select the shank here, and we're gonna middle mouse over to the invert selection icon so we can hide everything else. I'm gonna go over to the explode icon, and when you right click, it gives you the option to extract your surfaces. So I'm gonna go to the inside surface here, and left click, and when you're ready, just hit right click so it's separated from the shank. I wanna go ahead now and lock it by typing it in or using control W to quickly lock it. You can still see it's visible, but it's locked. The next thing I'm gonna do is take the surface, and we need to offset this inside about a millimeter. And again, the same purpose as the…
