Splitting surfaces

- [Instructor] In this video, we'll take a look at using the split command on surfaces in Rhino for Mac. We've got the exercise file, surfaces split.3dm open. And split does pretty much exactly what it sounds like. It splits up a surface, and it does that split using one or more cutting objects, which you can think of almost like cookie cutters. So let's go ahead and see how this works. Under the Edit menu, I'll click to activate the split command, and now rhino is prompting us to select the objects we'd like to split. In my case, that's the sort of square shaped freeform surface. So go ahead and click done. And now we're being asked to select the cutting objects. So again, you could think of those as kind of our cookie cutters. So in the perspective window, I'll go ahead and select that ellipse.
