Symmetry tips: Mirror wisely

- [Dave] In this lesson we explore one of my favorite tips when using the Mirror command. We start out how most people do it by mirroring a surface, then I'll show you a much better way using curves instead. Now just to recap, when we mirror we're focused on symmetrical geometry. I'm going to zoom out here a little bit. And as such I'm always creating axis lines to make more accurate snapping. So I'll be able to snap to the end points there. And we'll do that right now. This is a typical method most people will do. This a surface created from three curves that were lofted. I'm going to select the surface, go to Transform, Mirror. Now we can use that axis line. So I'll just snap on the end points on one side, end point on the other end, and there we have it, it's a very symmetrical. You probably want to join this together. These are two separate pieces, so let's go ahead and select both using Shift to edit. And then you can…
