Trimming and splitting

In this video we'll explore two critical editing tools, the trim and the split. First the definition, both commands are looking for we have two or more pieces of geometry intersecting a split will break them apart leaving all of the pieces remaining. But a trim will find the intersection and also delete the leftover parts. So both commands work the same way on curves, surfaces, or a mixture of both. We're going to start off by joining shapes together, three different ways. Let's zoom in here. So these are a circle and two rectangles. Pretty straight forward. So, we'll go with the split. And I'm going to pick maybe the two rectangles first, right-click. And then the cirlce. So, these guys are broken apart. Now, let's repeat the command. Objects to split, we're going to split the circle, right-click. And then the cutting objects. We can pick those pieces on either side where they touch. The result is, these left over shapes.
