Understanding coordinate systems

- The coordinate systems in Rhino 5 for Mac help us figure out where things are in Rhino's 3D space. In Rhino, we actually use two different coordinate systems, the construction plane coordinates and the world coordinates. Each viewport in Rhino has a construction plane which acts kind of like a tabletop where we do our work. When we draw or set points in the viewport, the cursor is always on that construction plane unless we use something like snapping or elevator mode to set points off of the construction plane. One example of that is one of these Free-Form Curve commands so I'll just grab any one of these, I'll do Control Points. So if I draw a free-form curve from the top viewport, notice that all my points I'm setting go right on that top construction plane. Incidentally, the top construction plane is also what's shown in the Perspective viewport by default. These two viewports show the same construction plane.
