Using Revolve and Rail Revolve to create surfaces
In this video, we'll cover how to generate surfaces via the Revolve command. Fortunately it's extremely intuitive in the sense that it's pretty easy to predict what the outcome will look like, before you finish. At least, usually. Let's take a look. First I want to introduce you to a few simple rules to avoid problems when you revolve. We're going to zoom in here. So I always recommend drawing an axis line, even if you don't think you need it. So that's the first thing. The second thing is we're going to put OSnaps so that these lines touch the axis. Let's go ahead and do a quick Revolve just to see how it works. So I'm on the Surface Creation Menu, there's the Revolve icon. And the reason the axis is so handy is, I now have snapping points. Just another note, they should be on Point or End that'll work just as well. So we pick the two ends of that. Now, if you haven't noticed, you can actually give it starting and ending angles, so we could do like, 1 4th of a revolve, or 1 3rd, or…
