Add an interactive process block

- [Instructor] It's always important to keep your audience interested in your course and one of the best ways to do that is to make it interactive. So in this movie we're going to explore some interactive options and we're going to do it with our Hansel and Petal new franchisee orientation project we've been building. We left off here in the overview. We just completed this particular lesson so we can go up to the top left corner and click the back arrow which will take us back to our list of, there they are, the lesson titles. Kind of like our outline. One of them though, the overview, you can see contains blocks and an edit content button instead of an add content button. The empty lessons here, you can see, have add content buttons. We're going to go to the franchisee process. Go ahead and click add content for that one. Next, down below, we'll select lesson and from here we're ready to add our first block, an interactive one. Now there are some different blocks that can be interactive. For example, process where the person viewing your course will be able to navigate from one step to another. There's flashcards where things can be flipped upside down to gather information and flip back. Same thing with sorting. We're going to go with process because we are talking about the franchisee process in this lesson so let's give it a click. And it automatically adds with some defaults: a brand new block, an interactive block for process. So you can see there is an introduction and some placeholder content. There's also a settings button next to the edit button up top. Notice the navigation arrow here to click and go to step one. Click again to go to step two. Click again, you can see there's only two steps before we hit the summary and then a start again link. So let's go back up here to edit. We'll click the edit button. So there's our introduction, step one, step two. If we have more steps, no problem. We can add more steps. Let's go down here, we do have three steps, so we'll click add step. Now you can see there's two step ones here and a step two, but that's okay. We can change up the titling and the content for each LE. Let's go back to the introduction. We'll start with this placeholder text. We don't want that, so you can select it, hit your backspace or delete key to remove it and then just simply type in your own. I have a quick paragraph here: new Hansel and Petal franchisees follow this simple three step process to quickly and easily go from initiation to grand opening. Notice down below we can add some media now. Upload an image or a video file or you can even embed something that already exists on the web. So all we have to do is go over here to this little camera icon and give it a click to upload media. There is a content library with some sample media, but I have one for you in your exercise file so click upload, and you'll see an mp4 file. It's our HP_Academy, it includes some music so let's select it and click choose. Now you can see it's uploading into the media section. Another thing you can do, if for example, you uploaded some images is record audio. Recording your own audio, so long as you have a mic connected, allows you to narrate and that too gets saved with your course. Now while that's uploading and processing, we can scroll down. You can see the various steps down below. And we're going to go to the very first step one and change the title. Should just say step one so we'll type that in. Down below we can describe the step, if we want, and in this case, we're just going to add a few lines of text. Let's go with initiation. You can press enter. Pre-application, press enter, and financial review. If we want to we can add some media to this. Let's go ahead and click the camera icon to upload media. This time we're just going to bring in the first section of a flower here, it's a png file. So with it selected, we'll click choose. Now we can go down to the next, where it says step one title, type right over that, step two. And again we have some sample text here, or placeholder text, that we can click and drag over to select and type right over it. And again, we'll go to the media here. This time click edit to replace the image or media with our own and that'll be the flower section two. And we'll do the same thing for step three. When we click edit to replace this media, it'll be section three of our flower and click choose. So there's our three steps. There is a summary, we can leave the title as summary, I think that's fine. And then just type in our own summary down below and there we go. So at this point we're ready to close this up. We can click the close button in the top right hand corner and it takes us back to our block which is now interactive. You can see we have our video here and the text down below. There's a start button to get things rolling. But just before we do, notice there are some settings we can check out. Click the settings button. There's our padding. You can see the default at the top and the bottom. There's also something that happens when we work with media, such as our video or even our images and that is enabling or disabling the ability to zoom in on an image. Deselecting disables, we'll keep it selected and close this up. I think we're ready to preview our interactive block here. Let's click preview and we'll leave it at desktop. Down below you can see the franchisee process starts to appear as we scroll down, here's the video, there's the play button. (upbeat music) There's our volume, we can mute it by dragging it all the way down. We can watch the entire video. We can expand it to fill the screen if that's necessary. Or we can go down below and click start to go on to the next step. We can also use the navigation button that we see off to the right. I'm going to click start. So there's step one, you can see the three different steps. They're also labeled down below, one, two, and three. We can now use the arrows to move from one to the next if we want. Eventually we'll get to the summary, and if we want, start again. And again, we're just previewing here on a desktop. It'll look different, perhaps, on a tablet. Especially if we turn it on its side. We can see what that looks like. And when we're ready to go back and make changes, we just simply click edit. So that's all there is to adding some interactivity to your course here in Rise 360. If you see things that need adjusting, for example, in the steps we listed a number of things under each step that maybe should be numbered or at least bullets. Of course we can take existing text and turn it into a list and we'll do that next.
