What you should know

- [Instructor] Okay, I want to talk briefly about what you need for this course. This course is on Rise 360, and Rise 360 is part of Articulate 360. So that means you need either an active or a trial Articulate 360 subscription to access Rise 360. But as a web app, Rise 360 doesn't require any downloads or software to install. So everything we create in this course will happen directly in our browser. Now, speaking of browsers, for this course I'm working on my Mac using Google Chrome, which is our recommended browser for the best experience in Rise 360. And that includes Google Chrome on both windows and Mac, but you can also use Firefox and Microsoft Edge if you're working on Windows, and Safari and Firefox on the Mac. Either way, the author experience is exactly the same. When I designed this course, I had two primary audiences in mind. The first is, those who have a basic understanding of Rise 360, and those users who may not have that background to Rise, but they need to build safety or emergency response training quickly. But honestly, if you're comfortable using a web browser, you'll be totally fine. The learning curve is so low that you won't have any trouble following along and getting a lot out of the course, even if you're on a trial. Now, if you're wondering why there aren't any downloads for this course, it's because as a web app, Rise 360 doesn't have source files to upload or download like desktop software. Throughout the course, I'm pulling from dozens of safety and emergency response training examples, but there are two primary examples I use throughout the course that you'll likely want to access. The first example, Disaster Preparedness is a course template, and that's actually part of your subscription, it can be found in your course templates, and I show you where to find that. The second example, the COVID-19 course is a free educational resource we made available in E-Learning Heroes. Just make sure you're logged in to Articulate 360 account and click the link at the bottom of the page where it says, click here to send a copy of the course to your Rise 360 dashboard. That'll automatically send the course to your dashboard and you'll have full access to edit, modify, and really customize the course for your own needs. And finally, it's worth mentioning that Articulate recently launched a new product called Rise.com, and there could be some questions around the differences. Rise 360 is great for creating courses, but it's a course development app only, so it's intended to be hosted in your company's learning management system. Rise.com on the other hand is an all in one system that includes an LMS to deliver, track and manage Rise courses outside of your company's LMS. Now, while the offering is similar, these are two different products for two different audiences. And one more thing, you'll likely have questions during the course, whether they're technical questions, like, how do I do this? Or, how do I do that? Or maybe you just need some resources to give you ideas of what's possible. Meaning like, do you have an example of this type of course? Or, what kind of examples do you have around this topic? That's great. Please use the Q&A feature in the LinkedIn learning course and message me. I'm @DavidAnderson on LinkedIn, and I'll help get you the support you need. If I don't know the answer, it's okay, because I know plenty of smart people at Articulate who always do have the right answers. Okay, that's all you need to know, let's go ahead and get started.
