Applying draft
- Most of the time, when creating some type of a molded part, we need to add some type of a taper or draft to the inside and outside surfaces. To do so, let's go up to Features. Click on Draft, and then choose my Neutral Plane, that's where we're going to start the draft from. I'm going to choose this top surface here, and I'm going to choose these inside faces that I'd like to add the draft to. Now most injection mold parts, or molded parts, are going to use a draft between three to five degrees. But you can also have draft at any angle above that. In this case here, I'm going to apply a 30 degree draft just to illustrate the tool. Click on OK, and just that easy, I was able to add that draft to the part. Now, if I want to go back to that feature, just click on it in the Feature Manager, edit the feature. I can then switch the direction of the draft, so it drafts inward, or you can go back to the feature here, and I can change the plane, instead of the neutral plane being the top…
