Applying materials, colors, and finishes
- SOLIDWORKS gives us the ability to apply materials, colors, backgrounds, and textures to individual parts or individual assemblies. In this example here, I've got two individual bodies. And let's go ahead and apply a material. So over here if I click on material. I can right-click on it and you can see I have some basic materials that have already been pre-defined in my favorites list. Or I can click on edit material at the top and I get the full list. So I've got pretty much every imaginable type of steel. I've got iron, aluminum alloys, copper alloys, titanium, zync. You name it, we've got all this information, or all these different materials that I can apply to my SOLIDWORKS parts. So down here I'm going to apply carbon fiber, why not? Apply that to my part. And notice as soon as I do that, I can close this out. It gives me the texture of carbon fiber. And it also applies all the mechanical properties of that material. So if I come over here, I can weigh the part, if I come up…
