- [Instructor] When adjusting your systems options in SOLIDWORKS another good area to adjust is the assemblies. Obviously assemblies have the biggest load on SOLIDWORKS and the most demand on your system, so let's check that out. I'm going to go up to Options, Systems Options, down to Assemblies. Now we're basically going to leverage every option that's available here. So moving down the list we want to check Prompt before changing mate alignments on edit, we're going to keep it checked to Optimize component placement when adding mates, we're going to allow the creation of misaligned mates, we're also going to check here Save new components to external files. When you create a new part file in an assembly it gives you the option to change it as an external file or an internal file. When you save that as an internal file it just makes your assembly file bigger and when you're opening it, closing it, saving it, it's going to take more time and that stays in your RAM active.
