- [Instructor] Hardware comes in all shapes and sizes from nuts to bolts to washers. However, most of the hardware used in sheet metal parts is captive, and needs to be inserted to a sheet metal part with a hydraulic press. Most of this hardware is produced by a company called Pem. Pem Fasteners produces a full line of captive hardware including nuts, stand-offs, threaded studs, panel screws, and so on. There's other companies also like Spiroflow and Southco who produce captive bearings, thumbscrews, and panel hardware. To install the hardware we need a hydraulic press. You simply load the piece of hardware, place the part on top, step on the foot pedal, and acuate the press. This press here is pushing about 2,000 pounds. However, this press can push up to about 12,000 pounds to install heavier duty hardware. It's quick and easy work.
