Bonus: Shearing - SOLIDWORKS Tutorial
From the course: SOLIDWORKS: Sheet Metal Design
Bonus: Shearing
- We are standing in front of a mechanical shear. This is basically a large paper cutter for sheet metal material. This can cut 10 foot across by about 48 inches deep. I'm gonna bring some material in, slide it against the back gauge. Now I can adjust the back gauge and the length of my cut here by moving this either forward or backwards and then inching out to size. When I'm ready, I'm gonna slide the material in, step on the peddle (machine clunking) sheer the material. In the back of the machine you can see the material get sheared off, slides down a little ramp and into a bin. From the side, we see we slide it up against the back gauge, and then shear off the material. It's my final piece cut to size and ready to go.
