Breaking references
- [Narrator] Once we're done using existing geometry to create sketch references, for example, or other file references, there comes a point where you might want to break these references. So in this Part file I've created a simple model that we used in another example. If we look at the sketch here it has references on all these circles to a bolt hole pattern on another part. But let's say that I'm done with this part and even if the other parts edited I don't want this to update anymore. If I right-click on the Part file on the Feature tree and go down to List External References, that brings up all the external references are in the parts. So you can see that in our sketch of the boss we have three arcs that are all in context referencing this entity for this features component. If we had something more complex it would list out all the various other features and sketches and entities that are all connected.
