Creating custom profiles
- Creating custom Weldment profiles within SolidWorks is pretty straightforward and easy. However, saving the file sometimes can be a little bit more complicated so let's go through the whole process. To get started, let's create a profile that we want to save and use later in Weldments. I'm gonna click on the front plane and go ahead and start a sketch. I'm gonna use the line command and start right at the origin and just draw out a few lines here. This is gonna be my profile. Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and add a dimension at the top of two inches. And a dimension here to the side at .5. Then I'm gonna go ahead and choose this top line, hold down control, this line adjacent to it and make them both equal. You do the same thing here. Click on this line here, line on the bottom and make them both equal. Once you have that, I want this to be a hollow shape so I want to make a offset entity. I'm gonna choose one of these lines and those that does it to the outside. So you have this yellow…
