Creating flat patterns

- [Instructor] In this movie I'm gonna go through and show you how to create a flat pattern for a sheet metal part. Now before we jump in and actually create the flat pattern, we wanna go back to the actual part itself and make sure we have the right bend deduction values or k-factor so that when you flatten out the part you get the correct size. So I'm gonna click on the part itself and click on open part. As you can see, here's the part. And let's go over here to the sheet metal tab and click on edit feature and notice we've got a 0.30 radius and the thickness in the material is 0.48 and my bend deduction value is 0.75. So looking that up from the table you can see that is the correct value, so we should be all set, but if this was not correct or if you're just using a k-factor of like .5, you need to go back and adjust this to the right value of k-factor or the right bend deduction so when you flatten this part out you do get the final correct size.
