- [Instructor] Hey guys, lets talk about patterns. Now, patterns are a very useful tool inside of SolidWorks, especially if you're making some type of a grid, a bunch of holes on your part. There's a lot of uses for patterns. Now keep in mind now, if we're creating patterns, its creating a lot of geometry very quickly, which can slow down your computer. So I generally recommend, if you're going to make patterns, save them towards the end of your part. But to get started, lets head up here under the feature tools. Come over here to linear pattern, click on that on right there. Choose a direction. Right, I want to choose a direction and I'm going to choose an edge or a face. I can choose a face like this one right here and I can switch the directions so its going that way and then of course I have to choose what I'd like to pattern. Right?
