Creating repeating patterns in a sketch
- SOLIDWORKS provides tools for creating both linear and circular patterns. Now, if I had the option, I would choose to not do a circular or a linear pattern inside of a sketch. I'd prefer to actually create a simple 3D file or 3D object first, and then pattern that or pattern a feature inside when I'm actually working with a solid object or a feature itself, but if you have to we can make a pattern inside of a sketch. To get started, let's go ahead and select this entity right here, so I'm selecting all of those lines and then come up to linear pattern. By default, it's preselected and it's going to give me some type of a value here so I have a point one offset. If I adjust that over here, I can just slide that to the right, and I can define how many instances I'd like to have of that shape. Define how far I want to space them out. And then, I can also choose to go in the other direction, so for my y-axis I can go and add a few more instances of that shape, and then define the…
